Reopening in New York

May 20, 2020

More regions are being allowed to open in New York state. Specifically relevant to many of our clients, the Capital Region hit the benchmarks and can reopen today. This means, if all goes well in two weeks, on June 3, 2020, the region moves to phase 2 which will expand openings to more industries. For those industries that can reopen, the business guidance for phase 1 can be found here.  It is anticipated that there will be a phase 2 guide as it comes closer to phase 2 reopening. If you are not sure your business can reopen you can go here.

When your business does reopen, it needs to develop a written Safety Plan outlining how its workplace will prevent the spread of COVID-19. This plan does not need to be submitted to the Department of Health or local health or safety authorities but must be kept on premises and made available to them in the event of an inspection.

A link to the template plan provided by New York State: here

It is advisable to fill this template out prior to your phase so that you are ready to open as soon as possible.

Additionally,  FAQs for the reopening can also be found: here.

We will update this post as more information is circulated.
