TLF attends NADC Annual Member Conference in Napa, CA

ALBANY, NY | This past week, TLF Partners James Towne, John Liguori, Shalini Natesan and Associate Megan Bassler attended the National Association of Dealer Counsel (NADC) 2024 Annual Member Conference in Napa, CA. The National Association of Dealer Counsel (NADC) is a nationwide professional organization of over 600 attorneys who represent automobile and other vehicle dealers. NADC provides a forum for members to exchange information on how to best represent dealer interests with respect to manufacturer franchise issues, regulatory compliance, insurance laws, tax laws, buy/sell agreements, employment laws, and many other issues facing dealers and their counsel. Regular membership in the organization is open to all attorneys who represent the interests of vehicle dealerships.

TLF has combined experience of over 40 years representing automobile dealerships, providing legal counsel to scores of new and used car and truck dealers. Our expertise ranges from everyday legal advice to navigating complex issues that may arise during transactions or dealings with regulatory agencies. It is imperative that our team stays up to date with industry trends and education which the NADC conference provides every year for attorneys nationwide.

At the meeting, sessions included Operational Compliance, an update from National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), the FTC CARS Rule, Asset Purchase Agreements: Indemnity Holdbacks, E-Titles and Interstate Vehicle Registration, Harassment Investigations, Recent Trends in Automotive Litigation and Preventative Measures, Contracts, and the Amazon / Hyundai Partnership.

Jim Towne has been an integral partner to scores of dealers throughout the Northeast, providing a broad range of legal services, strong business advice and counsel. He has worked at the request of both factory representatives and floor plan lenders to extricate a variety of dealers from the problems presented by a changing economic landscape over the past 40+ years.

Shalini Natesan is equipped with 10 years of experience in handling business associated matters arising from franchise issues, such as change of ownership, buy-sell agreements, drafting the necessary documents for all business and corporate formations and transactions, while also creating subsidiary entities to handle specific areas of a dealer’s business. Ms. Natesan has worked in navigating very large commercial real estate transactions, including the purchase and sale of real property and rental/lease agreements.

Megan Bassler focuses her practice in business law, labor and employment law, estate law, municipal law and litigation. Megan assists dealership clients in a broad range of matters, from transactional work and compliance issues to litigation matters.

John Liguori has over 25 years of experience in litigation and has appeared in both state and federal court for hundreds of negligence defense, civil rights, and personal injury cases. In addition to litigation, John also practices in the areas of estates and probate, commercial real estate, and landlord-tenant law.
