TLF Welcomes Ryan L. Abel to its Litigation Team
Apr 27, 2022ALBANY, NY | The Towne Law Firm (TLF) welcomes newest attorney, Ryan L. Abel to its litigation team as a Senior Associate. Ryan comes with almost two decades of litigation experience, giving the firm yet another angle of expertise in that practice area.
Mr. Abel was born and raised in Corning, New York. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at the State University of New York, College at Cortland. As part of his undergraduate studies, Mr. Abel interned at the Supreme Court of the United States. Between graduation and law school, Mr. Abel worked at a prominent public relations firm in Washington, DC.
Mr. Abel returned to upstate New York to attend law school at Syracuse University. While attending classes there, he clerked in the appeals bureau of the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, as well as at a law firm that practiced in trusts, estates and tax matters.
After spending several years in private practice in Syracuse, Mr. Abel relocated to the Capital Region to serve in the Office of the New York State Attorney General. There, he represented state agencies and employees in Article 78 proceedings, Article 75 proceedings and civil litigation in state and federal courts. Mr. Abel was selected to serve as a Deputy Section Chief and was a recipient the Louis Lefkowitz Award for his work on behalf of the State of New York.
Mr. Abel recently returned to private practice with an insurance defense firm in Albany, New York where he focused on civil litigation, including the defense of personal injury, general negligence and municipal liability cases.
Outside of work, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
