Partner James Towne Published in Times Union on His Recent Ukraine Trip
May 31, 2024ALBANY, NY | Recently, TLF Partner James Towne was published in an article for The Times Union on his recent trip to Ukraine, where he bore witness to the remarkable resilience and determination of the Ukrainian people in the face of ongoing challenges posed by war and devastation.
The article goes in depth about his recent return from a profoundly impactful humanitarian mission to Ukraine. During his time there, he witnessed firsthand the profound devastation the conflict has inflicted on the country and its people. The mission, which included pediatric anesthesiologist Dr. Roxann Pike and filmmaker Chip Duncan, focused on providing hope and support to injured children and internally displaced people. Towne’s team raised funds for a wheelchair-accessible van and collaborated on developing a machine to produce prostheses rapidly.
Deeply moved by the resilience of Ukrainians, Towne emphasized the importance of showing solidarity and supporting their fight for democracy. “It’s been a very rewarding project that provides opportunities for people to lift themselves up,” Towne said. “I’m grateful that I’ve reached a point in my career that I can make a difference.”
