ALBANY, N.Y. (May 23, 2017) – On Saturday, May 20, Attorney James T. Towne, Jr., Principal and one of the founding partners of Towne, Ryan & Partners, P.C., appeared as a featured speaker at the 2017 Saratoga Horse Symposium to present on “Equine Liability – Protecting Yourself & Your Farm: A Horse Owners Guide to Equine Law.” The event was hosted by CCE Equine, a division of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County, at the Saratoga County 4-H Training Center in Ballston Spa.

Mr. Towne’s hour and a half presentation covered various topics that affect horse owners and equine-industry professionals including the liability of horse and farm owners, equine purchase agreements and bills of sale, boarding contracts and issues, and stable keeper’s liens.

As an attorney and former horse owner, Mr. Towne was able to bring a wealth of first-hand insight and knowledge from various aspects of the equine industry and equine law to this informative session.

“I thoroughly enjoy working with the staff at Cornell Cooperative Extension and their educational efforts to make horse and barn owners more effective in their various activities,” said Mr. Towne. “Providing legal training will help avoid issues down the road for these businesses and owners.”

Now in its 26th year, the educational event has gained considerable recognition in the equestrian world by bringing in speakers who are among the most respected in the equine community, both in New York State and nationally.
